DineSignal collects minimal information to provide its service:
- Restaurant Names and Addresses: When you visit Yelp restaurant pages, we extract restaurant names and addresses to query health inspection data.
- User Preferences: We store your extension settings (like display preferences) locally in your browser.
- API Usage: We may log basic API usage statistics to maintain service quality.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Personal identifying information
- Browsing history outside of Yelp restaurant pages
- Location data beyond what's publicly visible on Yelp
- Credit card or payment information
- Email addresses or contact information
How We Use Information
The information we collect is used solely to:
- Match restaurants with health inspection records from Santa Clara County
- Display relevant health inspection data on Yelp pages
- Improve the accuracy of restaurant matching
- Maintain and improve our service
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your information with third parties. The only data sharing that occurs is:
- Public Health Data: We display publicly available health inspection information from Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health
- Service Providers: We use Cloudflare for hosting and Supabase for data storage, both of which have their own privacy policies
Data Storage and Security
- User preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API
- API requests are cached temporarily to improve performance
- All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS
- We retain minimal logs for service maintenance purposes
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Uninstall the extension at any time
- Clear your stored preferences through the extension options
- Contact us with privacy-related questions
Third-Party Services
DineSignal integrates with:
- Yelp: We only access publicly visible restaurant information on Yelp pages you visit
- Santa Clara County: We access publicly available health inspection records
- Cloudflare: For hosting and content delivery
- Supabase: For database services
Children's Privacy
DineSignal is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Data Source
All health inspection data comes from Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health's public records. DineSignal does not create or modify this data—we simply display it in a more accessible format.
